Working with RAW & discussion - *Opening files* and other issues

Here are a couple RAW files for you to play with. I took these in NY. This thread will also be used for discussion on working with RAW.
*Please do not pass these off as your own photos.*

Wow, I'm really sorry this is such an issue. I made it public. I thought I would still be able to share even though I made it private. Let's try one more thing then I'll try switching hosts.

Same thing. Maybe wait for Tig to try - she's on a PC. Maybe it's a Mac to PC kind of thing.

I'm probably going to just delete this whole thread once it gets figured out. But I'm wondering. Are you using Lightroom or the right program to open it? Maybe it's trying to open with Notepad? I just used a different browser, downloaded one and used Bridge and it opened fine.

It comes down as a text file. I don't even get the option to open it with any program.

Try opening Lightroom and using LR to find the file and open the file using the "Open" function. Or use Photoshop in the same fashion.

I just registered from a link at GF.

Wanted to let you know I was able to click the link (I only tried the last one there) and it brought up 2 .CRW files to d/l. They opened fine for me.

I didn't take the time to play around with them, but they did open ok.

Good! What did you use to open them?

I have Elements 5.0 with ACR.

I think I'm going to rename this thread to get people on track on opening RAW and start a new one for editing discussion.
I have a few tips I learned for starting steps on editing RAW files.

Oh, oops. I just made a post on this. Icouldn't find anything on RAW. Well Now I need help uploading them to be able to share.. The links you shared I couldn't open here or at GF.....
