Lens Question Empty Lens Question

Ok I am clueless when it comes to lenses.

I just got a Canon Rebel XTi a couple of months ago. It just came with the kit lens 18-55.

I would love to order a new lens but have no idea which one. What lenses do you recommend?

Its just a fun hobby for me so mainly pics of my kids.

I really love my 50mm 1.8 lens for portrait type pictures. Are you planning on taking pictures of sports your kids are involved with or vacation photography too? You may want to consider a smaller version of a zoom - like a 75-200 ( i think that's what my FIL has)

I LOVE my 50mm but it is more of a portrait lens. you have to move your body to "zoom" in or out LOL the pics are awesome

if you want a larger range multi purpose lens I like my Sigma 18-200 for things like the zoo or sporting events...
